Here's the scene at the McDonalds counter. Even though the menu generally followed ours in America, we were happy to have Tamami there to negotiate the details of ordering.


Little did they know that in ordering quarter pounders, Shii, Tess and Kelsey were all getting the opportunity to win a pink T-shirt, as worn by all the McDonalds staff. Sadly, they did not win. However, they each received a nice pink button proclaiming interesting sayings.

Shabu-shabu news: Braving the ever present steam, Rylan and Shii cooked and ate, cooked and ate, etc. Some witnesses believe they ate more platters of beef than the four girls.

Shabu-shabu was a big hit with all the meat and vegetables consumed in large quantities. The only unpopular item proved to be the tofu, which tended to melt down into a gooey mess, especially when left in the broth too long.
